"Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue"

While this phrase often brings to mind a bride on her wedding day, it perfectly encapsulates the charm of A Special Place: Local Art & Gifts.

    Something Old:
Our shop offers a glimpse into the past with fossils (including shark and megalodon teeth), minerals, and crystals. These ancient treasures stand as a reminder that beauty can be timeless.

    Something New:
We're thrilled to be settling into our newly expanded and renovated space. With a fresh look and a stunning new sign designed by one of our talented artists, our store continues to evolve. Inside, you'll discover wonderful creations from over 40 local artists and vendors, offering everything from jewelry, candles, and soap to crochet items, nightlights, needle felting, and art in a variety of mediums—glass, resin, canvas, wood, and even colored pencil prints.

    Something Borrowed:
The name “A Special Place” is borrowed from my mother, who ran an antique store of the same name in Roswell, NM, for several years. She still has a booth in an antique mall there. When I started this venture, I asked her if I could use the name. Little did I know that those three words would become more than just a title—they’ve come to represent a mission statement of sorts. For the first 12½ years, I even used her original shop sign.

    Something Blue:
As for “something blue,” you’ll see it the moment you walk in. The walls, floors, and many fixtures are painted blue, giving the entire shop a relaxing, beachy vibe that’s as welcoming as it is tranquil.

As we prepare to celebrate our 13th anniversary this December, we remain proud of our blend of old and new, borrowed inspiration, and our signature blue ambiance. Come visit us and explore the unique and handmade treasures that make our store truly "A Special Place."
