MILTON, Fla., (March 19) - The Joint Commission’s Maternal Levels of Care (MLC) Verification program, offered in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), has named Santa Rosa Medical Center as a Level I maternal care verified facility.

Santa Rosa Medical Center (SRMC) underwent a comprehensive on-site review on March 5 to verify and evaluate its capabilities related to maternity care; along with reviewing the hospital’s policies and procedures.

“Our hospital has always been committed to delivering a high-quality, personalized care experience,” said Amy Peek, MSN, RN, Director of Women’s Service at Santa Rosa Medical Center. “This designation validates our ability to provide exceptional maternal care services.”

In 2022, the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative (FPQC) announced a partnership with The Joint Commission, recognizing its MLC Verification program. SRMC is an active participant in the FPQC, which aims to reduce primary cesarean section rates with the goal of advancing the health and well-being of all Florida mothers and infants.

“Santa Rosa Medical Center remains committed to improving maternal health outcomes,” said Justin Serrano, SRMC’s Chief Executive Officer. “The Joint Commission’s verification offers validation that our highly skilled team delivers excellent care available to expectant mothers.”

The MLC Verification program provides an objective assessment of a facility’s capabilities and verifies that a hospital has the expertise, equipment and resources in place for a patient’s specific needs and risk level.

“The Joint Commission commends Santa Rosa Medical Center for its efforts to standardize maternal care and reduce maternal morbidity and mortality,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President of Accreditation and Certification Operations and Chief Nursing Officer for The Joint Commission. “This program will help SRMC strengthen the care for mothers and babies in Santa Rosa County.”
