    Name: Volunteer Santa Rosa Day
    Date: June 24, 2023
    Time: 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM CDT
    Event Description:

Volunteer Santa Rosa Day is an opportunity to learn about the volunteer organizations that support Santa Rosa County. This year's event will be held from 1 - 6 p.m. on Sat., June 24 at the Santa Rosa County Fairgrounds, 8604 Bobby Brown Road, in Milton. Various organizations, including Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), American Red Cross, the United Way, and others will showcase what their organizations do and be available for demonstrations. Food including BBQ and freshly cooked pork rinds will be available as well as activities for kids, and a LIVE helicopter landing at 2 p.m.

The ARES team will operate a full 24 hours for field day from 1 p.m. on Sat., June 24 to Sun., June 25 for their annual operating event. Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June, more than 40,000 ham radio operators throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to the community and the nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
