    Small Business Saturday is on November 29, 2025, the Saturday following Thanksgiving.

    The event, which encourages supporting local businesses, was founded by American Express in 2010 and is cosponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration. 
    • What it is: A day dedicated to supporting small, independent businesses and local communities.
    • When it is: The Saturday after Thanksgiving each year.
    • Why it's important: It kicks off the holiday shopping season and helps local economies by encouraging people to shop small instead of at larger retailers.
