Fine Art Artists and Heritage Arts Artists are invited and encouraged to participate, but must register in advance. Approximately 80 plus artists are expected to be on hand at this highly attended, fun-filled, family-oriented event. Fine Art artists are juried and will compete in one or more of the following categories: Painting (oil or acrylic), Painting (watercolor or pastels), Jewelry, Photography/Graphics (pen and ink, etching, scratchboard) or Three Dimensional (sculpture, glasswork pottery, etc.). Monetary awards and ribbons in each of five categories will be as follows:Best of Show, First Place, Second Place and Awards of Merit. Artists enjoy participating in this festival for the great crowds, organization and quality of the event, pleasant atmosphere, a Quiche Awards Breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. Visitors will have a day of fun, as well! Besides the wonderful arts exhibits located along the gorgeous Blackwater River, there are plenty of activities, food and entertainment! The Children?s Creative Station gives budding artists the opportunity to participate in various types of artwork such as hat making, button making, butterflies, chalk painting, face painting and more. Be sure to visit the All County Youth Art Exhibition where Santa Rosa students will showcase their art through categories such as literary writings, artwork and a poster contest. Last year over 1,000 students participated in the competitions.The awards ceremony sponsored by Wal Mart will take place during the festival?s opening at 10 a.m. on Sat., April 6. Upon invitation from Mayor Guy Thompson and the City Council, several yacht clubs will be arriving at the Riverwalk to attend the weekend festival. The Blackwater Pyrates will welcome them with an ?Outdoor Pot Luck Feast.? The clubs will remain through Sunday as they join a host of other visited who will shop, dine and stroll throughout the beautiful historic downtown area. Of course there will be plenty of great food and entertainment. The Cultural Performing Arts stage, located beside the South Gazebo, will include various performing art cultures of local ethnic diversity in song, dance and music, Some include: Taiko drummers, Japanese classical dancers, Irish dancers, Scottish bagpipers, drummers, country singers, belly dancers, modern interpretive dancers, native Indian music and more. Other entertainment will include gospel and bluegrass. A festival wouldn?t be complete without a vast selection of tasty food. Come hungry and enjoy such food as shish kabobs, Cajun, seafood, chicken, corn on the cob, ice cream, snow cones, Italian ice, burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, barbecue, funnel cakes, popcorn, nachos and more. The festival is presented by the Santa Rosa Arts and Culture Foundation and is sponsored by The Santa Rosa Medical Center, Wal Mart, City of Milton, the Santa Rosa Tourism Development Council, Gulf Power, Press Gazette, Blackwater Bistro, Goldmine Bingo, 1330 a.m. WEBY, 102.7 WXBM, Soft Rock 94.1, Cat Country 98.7, and Cassida Construction.
